After working with Psyguy on several Marvel Minimate customs I decided to see what he could do with Hanna Barbera designs. I've mentioned that I feel that Minimates are the perfect customizable toy and Psyguy has DEFINITELY proven that theory true. The first set of Hanna Barbera Minimates that Psyguy did was the Josie & the Pussycats Gang. They are my second favorite only to the Mystery Incorporated Gang from Scooby Doo probably because they only had two season , if they were around longer they easily would have been my favorite because they outnumbered the boys 2 to 1. Many toy companies have tried to produce Hanna Barbera toy lines but most do not make it past The Jetsons, Flintstones, Tom & Jerry or the animal characters like Yogi Bear or Hong Kong Phoey. No toy company has produced any of Hanna Barbera's pet detectives with the exception of Mystery Inc. Scooby Doo's success inspired a great many knock-off shows using the talking pet with 4 kids solving mysteries. Josie and the Gang being owned by Radio and Archie Comics and the cartoon produced by Hanna Barbera does not sound like a successful formula for merchandising. There were puzzles, coloring books, paper dolls and Slurpee cups released back in the 70's but never any toys. It seems like a Batman 66 scenario where two big companies own the property. This is mere speculation and although this set of mates has gotten a lot of feedback, I don't believe there's much of a demand for toys from Josie & the Pussycats or we would have had it with the live action movie. Josie is the first of a long line of Hanna Barbera inspired Minimates to come this month. Stay tuned!

A Custom A Day....
Since
I began toy collecting as a hobby back in 1990 I have always had a
need for custom figures. Toy companies begin action figure lines, begin
to release individual characters to create teams and, more often than
not leave them incomplete. Many collectors find that custom figures
pollute their collection's authenticity by not being mass produced
creations from the toy companies that created the preexisting toy lines.
I disagree. I feel a quality custom action figure enhances a
collection and help create a complete picture. Archives
